Does anyone have pictures of the tall ships in Baltimore in 1976 - the bicentennial celebration?

Lovely. We had tall ships for Sydney's Bicentennial in 1988 too!

I just want to go on a long voyage in her. It would be like traveling back in time about 150 years. Sigh. I could even learn the ropes. (that's where the expression came from.)

What a gorgeous picture, calm sea and it sure is does look like a painting June. We had the tall ships in Toronto and Midland for awhile as well, weren't they great. Got to go out on the Bluenose out of Halifax while it was in Toronto.

I love the tall ships. They were here (in San Francisco) last weekend, but I wasn't able to go. They are in Los Angeles (San Pedro) Aug 15-17.

Here are some sites to check out if you are interested in sailing with them.

I love looking at the tall ships imagining trying to live on one. We went to see them in Sydney in 1988 (extremely pregnant was was very difficult to move around on them)

Thank you all for the compliments. I shot this photo about 10 or 11 years ago, and yes, I did a painting from it. Most of my photos are taken as reference photos for paintings. We have various festivals when many of the tall ships call to port here. This one was on the river, going back out to sea. It's very near my house but I took the photo from my son's boat.

I saw the "Op-Sail" boats when they were in port in Philadelphia a few years ago. Much to my chagrin, most of the tall ships were very modern ones, and there were so many, moored so close together, that I couldn't get any good photos of any single one. Still, I enjoyed the sights.

I agree with June- it could easily be a painting-- what an incredible picture!

Hi Joan, I about 5 months pregnant myself when the tall ships were in Sydney in 1988. My step father worked for the Maritime Services Board at the time, so we spent Australia Day viewing the tall ships and the fireworks from Goat Island on Sydney Harbour. I recall being surprised to find ourselfs More...
