The original Medieval Stave Church was built in 1150 but burnt down in 1992. This has been rebuilt exactly as the original Church. The wood work both inside and out is fantastic.

Oh, my -- lasted all that time? A miracle! Do they know what/who caused the fire? Isn't it grand, though, that it was rebuilt -- I must google it thoroughly.

What a shame that such an ancient building lasted for 900 or so years, and then burned down. That's sad. I wonder how long it took the pagan workers to build the original, compared to how long it took the modern workers to build the replica in 1993? Great photo -- thanks for sharing!
