I am pretty certain this is a native Hibiscus as they grow North of Perth.

I thought the same Wendy. I can grow camelias but I can't get these to grow here in Adelaide.

Purple again. I like that color.
 |  |
I like this; it is my favourite colour too.

Looks like a hibiscus to me too. Easy puzzle

Another flower. Can't have too many right now. Think I'm getting the winter blahs!
 |  |
Ruth, there must be an epidemic. A lot of people here in the north west also have the 'winter blahs'! The flower pics really perk up one's mood.

Awesome!

I glad others thought it looked like a hibiscus, too
 |  |
The flower is actually a Rose of Sharon, a tree which is usually up to 20' tall. Comes in many colors, yes it does look like a hibiscus.
 |  |
Maybe Camelia Kate is her stage name. Actually, I think it looks like a hibiscus, too.

Hello Sue, I have never heard of a Rose of Sharon, lovely name - I will look it up. We have just had our first bit of rain this year. Not a lot but at least the birds are having a wash.

Hibiscus syriacus - rose-of sharon. Found this on the Ohio State University site.
Translation: Hibiscus is the Greek name for Mallow.
syriacus translates as 'of Syria,' where it was once thought to be native to

Flowers today. That's OK, love my garden.

Thought it was a Rose of Sharon, Sue -- I have them also. This color and white and a pink one that is a double or frilly type. Here's where to see pics if anybody wants to http://davesgarden.com/guides/pf/go/788/
Good shot, Sue!

Nice capture Kate!

Talking of flowers- the orange blossoms or Orange Jasmine is in flower around Brisbane and I am stiing here in my living room in a highset house and have almost an overpowering scent wafting in all the time. It is a beautiful perfume. Thank goodness I am not allergic to it as many others are.
 |  |
Oops Sitting not stiing
 |  |
Now two flowers in a row is really giving me spring fever. Love the flowers.

Thanks, Sue for the photo & puzzle. I was about to give the information on Hibiscus Syriacus, when I noticed Elizabeth'd already done so- thanks, Elizabeth. Heaven knows where my camelia is & if it'll ever turn up - if it does it'll might be as the Rose of Sharon, but more likely to be as an old boot! All written with a smile on my face, we're lucky to have this site!
