It's the biggest Chinese New Year's parade outside China -- I love it!

Amazing colours. The parade in Bendigo (Vic) is similar with the biggest dragon outside China

Sydney does have a large Chinese community and this is a very spectacular (and long) parade.

Wow! The Kates have the trifecta again! This time I have two and Kate/Sydney has one (last time it was the other way around)

At least the parade has been strung out with random colour photos appearing since I first sent them all in en masse not long after the parade itself (late February). By contract I only submitted the Australia Day pictures (taken in January) in May!

STILL NO RATS! I bet that during, say, the Year Of The Rooster, that they have a LOT of rooster themed floats and costumes. This is PREJUDICE against Rats!!

There was a rat, Heidi. A really cute, funny rat. Nothing like what the word conjurs up. Did you miss it, or did I dream it?

Kate, the parade is another good reason to come to Sydney. I have liked all the parade photos.

I'm with Heidi, I missed the rat! I would have thought a RAT parade would be more gray tones. Or browns. With some long, naked tails...

There WERE some grey brown rats! Honest! They led the parade - but they seem to be bringing up the rear in the on-line parade! The individual rat float (in the same series as the other individual animal floats) has been on I believe.

Yeah, sure... If you think I believe that, I have a lovely bridge that I think you would like to buy.
Judy, I think you dreamt it.
I think the Chinese are embarrassed to have come up with a Rat to celebrate, instead of, say, a swan, so they're hiding their rats. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

Heidi, you are probably kind to rats too. You are an earth mother, and that is a compliment.

You didn't dream up the rat, Judy. It was the prize photo on a crossword puzzle one day, and I let everyone here know on that day. It was a huge, cute pink and/or purple rat. Heidi, you must not have checked it out.
