Well girls.... you might think it's cute. To most of us here in Canada it's a flea-bearing pest that digs holes in your garden, gets into your attic and dies (producing both smell and tons of maggots) and is a pain in the a-s! You want them in Oz we'll send them over!

Thank you for your kind offer Greg, but no thank you. We have enough problems with possums in the roof already. Don't need another pest.

Now, now, CG! Here in the good, old USA, we call them the Johnny Appleseed of the animal world. They do a lot of reforestry.

I agree with Ian that Possums are cute and do similar damage as this little cutie. Most people find kangaroos very cute too but the farmers find them a pest. They break fences and eat crops. I personally still love to see them in the wild.

Hi to all. Hether, did you send them up to me in QLD - 'cause they took all the little fruits off the top of my mango tree!!

We certainly don't have to worry about the Cockatoo's eating the mangos in my part of Brisbane, but we do have to worry about the flying foxes - not only do they eat the fruit but they leave not so lovely slimy yellowy sh#t everwhere. Then as Ian said there are the possums that keep you awake all night rumaging around into roof cavity, if they are lucky enough to find a way in.

I didn't think this was possible, but there is a piece 'missing' from this puzzle tonight! Looked everywhere (well, under). How odd!

Cockatoos are s-o-o-o-o-o expensive and exotic in the USA. I wouldn't mind trading a few of our plentiful squirrels for a cockatoo or two!
