I love this eye-catching flower photo! As my Granny would have said, they strike my fancy. Each one seems to have it's own little personality. This could be the inspiration for a lovely painting! Thanks, eaa.

Here's what I found:
"Johnny-Jump-Up -- Viola cornuta (Violaceae):
A compact annual or short-lived perennial, native to Spain and the Pyrenees Mountains." Nature knows how to use complimentary colors (purple and yellow)for sure. Beautiful!

My dear old Dad used also to call these Johnny-jump-ups, perhaps because they seed so readily. I just love them, especially this colour combo!!
Thanks eaa

These were selfseeding and popped up in the lawn so I mowed around them 'til they died off.

Eaa, how marvelous of you to leave the flowers! I bought some of the Johnny-Jump-Up's one summer, planted them out front -- sure enough, next year they had jumped up out in the yard. They may still be popping up at that house (rather hope so)!
