What kind of flowers are they? I've never seen anything like 'em.

As I was putting this together, I first thought the little striped things were some kind of fruit. Another piece or 2 or 3 and I thought maybe some fancy glasses of a drink of some kind. More pieces and I decided on small candles clustered on a table. Flowers never came to mind at all! We're still a long way from flowers, blizzard warnings are out for this weekend...

How very curious are these flowers! Neither have I ever seen anything quite like them, Heidi.
I'm so sorry Gramma Linda - a blizzard just before Easter - not good! We are finally having some flowering trees here on the mountain, and a bit of tender green leaves on many trees and shrubs. We're having a much needed rain - hope it keeps up!

It's called 'Scarlet Banksia',proper name Banksia coccinea, and it's native to southern Western Australia, near Albany. Anne (Albany) would see a lot of them!
