Thanks, everyone. Dorothea and Izzie, my step-daughter who does gorilla research took the photo. The researchers are not allowed to get closer than 20 ft. (so as not to acclimate the gorillas to humans who may harm them). The gorillas don't follow the rule, though, and their interractions with More...

A belated thank you, Kay! Another reason why researchers and other folks are discouraged from approaching other primates is that they are susceptible to our diseases, and even a cold can be devastating to them. Kind of difficult to enforce when the group under study chooses to ignore the rules!
