Our architects just don't build like they used to. In some ways it is just as well, in others we lose ageless beauty.

I wonder why a building in Sydney would be named Wyoming?

Yes Joann--I don't understand. Initially I assumed that Kate had seen this building somewhere in Wyoming or in a USA national monument then I realised it was a building...and what is it about 1909...just the year it was built? It's probably a famous block of flats and we're displaying our ignorance of Australia!

I just looked up this building and there is a lot of info on the web. It was built between 1909 and 1911, named after the owner's country property at Junee (wherever that is). It was 8 stories high and boaster hot water on every floor. It was built to house doctors who worked across the road at the hospital.

My father was born at Wyoming at about this time (Well 1915) according to his birth certificate, and we always thought it was a village that is no longer there. He left when he was only a baby and didn't remember it, and they went next to West Wyalong and then Queanbeyan by the time he was 3 and More...
