Wow! I can't even imagine having such a beautiful bird in my yard. I think I'm lucky when I have bluebirds, cardinals and an occasional oriole.

Most visitors to this country don't realise the abundance of brilliantly coloured parrots and cockatoos that live here. Such lovely birds. I demand feed birds every day - they demand and I feed! Mum and dad magpie will be here very soon for the first morning feed for their babies.

One of our theme parks has a encloser with all these lovely birds. You can get a paper cup with necture, and they will sit on yours hand and drink.

Lia i have occasionally seen them for sale as pets, but i'm so used to seeing them flying around my backyard that it seems strange to think of them as pets. Personally i'd rather stick with my budgie, she's not as loud! I've heard lorikeets can be quite aggressive too.

So the lorikeets are wild? How marvelous for you! I've seen some lovely flights of parrots in Central America but nothing near as gorgeous as the lorikeet. Another excellent photo, Kate!
