Is this from Wagdy? It's very pretty and interesting architecture. I love the keystone figurehead. I wonder what the writing says?

No, Kay. Just an antiquarian--I knew Hilmi's name, and was a Latin student for too many years. I did the translation, and knew it was Cairo's museum by deduction.

DanS that's really impressive. I learnt compulsory Latin at school but was never a success. It was on the bottom of my list of things I wanted to do.

Very interesting picture, and impressive info from DanS, I agree as far as the Latin, never had to learn it in school, but also didn't really have an interest!!

Lovely picture. Is the keystone one of the ancient Egyptian goddesses/dieties? (Neither word looks like it's spelled correctly!) Isis is the only name I can think of.

It's hard to tell, but the keystone figure looks like a male to me -- a pharaoh, maybe? Yes, I just Googled it and here is the caption under a photo of the entrance keystone:

"Inscription above entrance arch and pharaonic head at keystone. The Entrance to the Cairo Egyptian Museum."

Must have been a young pharoah. Thanks, Kay!

I wonder if it is Wagdy's...and where he is.
