Yes, but only if you eat them. They're great for bordering property as a hedge. The wildlife won't eat them either.

Even the smoke from the wood is poisonous so don't put it in the wood heap either. It is quite a pretty beast, My son bought me one at a scool excursion to a garden centre that is the same colour. Cheers everyone

I remember getting the sap on my fingers after picking some flowera for my mum as a child and she scrubbed my hands for ages, only found out why as I grew up

I must have had hiccups when I typed that comment. Oleanders are sort of an unofficial local logo. Nearly everyone has them in thier yards. Yes, they are poisonous, but not as much so as many believe. Pets are not attracted to them, so not much worry there. I've personally never More...

When I was young we called them 'school flowers' as they were planted in most of the school yards around. Then it was announced that they were poisonous and a lot were removed. A good thing to, especially as they are now being replaced by native gardens!

I just finished a mystery in which oleanders and poison played a part. So nice now to know what oleanders look like. Such gorgeous colors!

As already stated, they're only mildly poisonous. I think all life should be allowed to defend itself, and that's all the Oleander is doing. It's not like the Yew, a popular hedge shrub. One mouthful of that is painfully fatal, yet people still grow it right next to their homes all over the USA.
