It's nice to see Shultz again. Good Boy! Beautiful fellow. I've never seen anything like that leather harness(?) that he's wearing. Does it have a special purpose?

Oops -- I'm sorry that I misspelled Schultz's name!

Schultz has a winning smile! Red healer (heeler)? Do you dog lovers ever read "The Bark," a bimonthly magazine? I think you can get there on the web too -- they always have several pages of smilers which just does your heart such good. Here's a link (bet you LOL!): http://www.thebark.com/ezine/features_specialFeatures/SmilingDogs.html

What a gorgoeus red heeler, does he still work?

Schultz certainly looks happy. ALso wondering about the harness.

My first thought as to the harness was that Schultz is part of a team which pulls the chariot-like cart beside him. (It's possible, we had a dog who rode the motorcycle.) Perhaps Schultz has achieved the brown belt, green sash level of loving dogdom? Okay. I'm tired and need a snack or nap! Carry on, Sir Schultz!

Oh he's lovely, would like to kneel down beside him and give him a big hug...

Schultz is a cross shepherd, red cattle dog, labrador (definitely) plus several others including, we think, a bull mastiff, a rottweiler and a border collie. The leather harness is his car harness (well that's what we use it for) since the commercial variety could never restrain his weight (45kgs+ More...

that old dogs are the sweetest. My Cody is 12 now, and moving a bit slower and taking shorter walks in the heat of the summer. I adopted him from the shelter, as we do all of our animals. He weighs about the same as Schultz, Kate.

Kate, is Schultz having Cartrophin injections?
24/Jul/08 4:29 PM

Cartrophen the miracle drug! Yep! And Rymadyl arthritis tablets and glucosomine.

He's down to 40kgs now ... bit of muscle loss.

Schultz adopted us; he was an abandoned puppy.

My cat, Scrap has been having monthly injections of it since February last year. One day, he was staggering around and hardly able to walk so I took him to the vet thinking it was his time...18 months down the track and he is still with us! Mind you, he is half the cat he used to be, but he is still happy and eating etc, and they were the criteria the vet gave to know when it is his time.

Your Vet gave you the right criteria. As long as they are enjoying life..... But I don't believe in letting an animal suffer. They WILL let you know when it's time.
Give my love to Schultz, please, and at least 1 gentle hug.

What a smile - Schultz certainly looks like he is extremely well loved and is enjoying live. He is also a bitza - my favourite kind of wuppy!

Yes, I agree. Schultz will choose his time. He's been on cartrophen since April last year - but was able to go camping Easter this year. His back legs went last year & we thought it was over. But while he's happy, plays, loves a rub, a car trip and his food - and can't wait to leave the vet's, it's not time.
