What lovely orchids they are! I have a fondness for orchids. It is really exciting when you come across them growing in the wild - a rare and very special experience. You are lucky.

Orchids have always invoked a feeling of mystery for me. Ian, we're not likely to come across them in the wild (zero chance), but I envy those of you in tropical climates.

So is this the work of Margaret or at Margaret River? Either way it is STUNNING--so wonderful to find orchids in the wild anyway and then the amazing contrast with the bush 'mulch' WOW--thanks a lot whomever.

Actually, Kay, Tennessee is blessed with nearly 50 species of orchids--2nd only to North Carolina as the state with the most orchid species outside of sub-tropical Florida. The large Pink Slipper and the Yellow Lady's Slipper are easy to spot, but I have seen several of the smaller ones on hikes More...
