I don't remember seeing it lying on the ground in any of the footage I have seen on tv and I would have thought that it would have done damage to people if it had fallen over as it is very tall. I flew over Christchurch city centre a few months ago on a return flight from Tauranga and was shocked to see the devastation, the city looked like something out of the blitz.

One of the most unique sculptures! From every picture I saw, I have to believe it survived...a sad contrast to the cathedral!
