The damage in the city has been huge so the assessments by the relevant authorities are taking a long time. This has been compounded by the continuing aftershocks.

Second only to the loss of life is the destruction of beautiful structures like this bridge. It's been a terrible couple of years for NZ, and I pray that you will be able to restore your buildings and lives without more aftershocks.

Another sad reminder of what was lost in that terrible earthquake. It's so sad for the people who live in this beautiful country. Kate for reminding us, so that we can pray for the restoration of these historical buildings, as well as for all the people living through this.

They've certainly have a tough time in Christchurch - their 2011 Christmas present was more damage!

with so much of that beautiful city centre damaged and that powerful underlying fault it's amazing to think about rebuilding; one of our friends has moved well away which doesn't surprise me--I've no idea what I'd do in the same circumstances

Kate - a lovely, serene, idyllic picture from the past. I'm glad you captured it.
