Thank you for sharing this beautiful gorge with us. We have a foot or so of snow here and it is
-9 degrees F; all the photos today remind me that better times are ahead and I will be able to spend time outdoors again without freezing.

To answer some questions asked yesterday about the Ponderosa pine survivor, this photo was taken here in Utah on the Elkhorn Loop in the Uintah Mountains (northeastern Utah). This is an amazing place, very wild, and unpopulated except possibly a few indigenous people. I expect if you could swim without being eaten, there would be hordes of people in the water! In the wet season (now) the river becomes a raging torrent right up to the waterline and covering the rocks on the left.
