Is it a bladder from some sort of algae? otherwise a very dead fish that has lost all its scales.

At first I thought it was a close-up on a peeled garlic clove...but I'm pretty sure it's part of some kelp that is on the beach. Fun, dino!

You got me! In an odd way it almost looks like part of a hamburger bun, but I do remember way back when I was a kid seeing large pieces of kelp in Puget Sount that looked like that. So I'm guessing vegetable.

I agree with the kelp bladder, because of the broken stem on the end.
This is a really cool picture!

Great pic Dino!! I will opt for Vegetable too because of the little stemmy bit. Maybe a seed pod of some sort washed up?

I agree with the kelp bladder too, the ones that squirt water when you jump on them:-) Definitely vegetable.

animal or vegetable, don't think I want a bite! I say vegetable.

The answer: Vegetable. It is indeed the bladder from kelp. It wouldn't hurt to have a bite, whereizzy. It will have lots of nutrients, especially iodine.
