Hey Martha I think that is a kite, you don't ride it, in the wind. I'm like you I want my feet on the ground also. The way the wind blew here last night with gust up to 55mi. the kite would blow away far away. This is kite season, March. It came in like a lion so wonder what the rest of the month holds for us. Nothing bad I hope. Great picture and puzzle. Sun.03/09/08

Frances, if the old saying holds true, then March will go out like a lamb - sure hope so! Quite cold here this a.m., after last night's wind, I just hope the budding plants don't get zapped.

Fab piccie. Makes me want a nice hot cuppa.

Good Morning all,
Take heart Frances, it's cold down here in Central Florida too with quite the winds.
Have a good day.
Fun Puzzle, thanks

Good picture and puzzle...Thanks for sharing!

Martha, the first thing I thought was a parashoot or paraglider, too. I use to love to fly kites. It is so much easier now with the type of kites they have. My favorite is the box kite, but then again, I haven't really tried any of the new ones.

We had torrential rains with flooding, winds up to 90 mph and a few tornados yesterday, aside from that it was fine. :-) Cool today, down to 65F. Don't forget to turn your clocks ahead all those who do, your computer is a good way to get the correct time. Now if I could only turn my biological clock an hour ahead as easily.CU2MORO.

Whee! Just hope those dark clouds don't have any lightning in them, though!

It's mine, sorry I accidentally left my name off! There were to of them in a park in Dubbo ( west of Sydney in NSW, but east of Broken Hill!!) just before Christmas. It was actually very hard for the kite holder to keep his/her feet on the ground!

Looks like it would be fun to fly. DotCom reading about your weather. Trust all of you are okay and not hit too badly. Sun shining here today - but cold. Easter and Spring are just around the corner - cheers...

I don't know much about kite flying, but, with the winds we have been having I'm afraid the kite might tear apart. This is the ninth of March, so maybe by the l5th, the lion will go back to his den and the lamb can come out. Hope so, it has been a tough month.

Great shot, Kate! I do recommend para-sailing for those who are able. I went a couple of times in Mexico and it was just incredible up there with only the creaking of your harness and the occasional gull flying by. But certainly not the thing to do in a wind storm. DotCom you moved again? My, oh my!
 |  |
PS, yes, I KNOW this is a kite!

What goes up must come down!

On Cape Cods' windiest days we go down to the beaches and watch the para-surfers who use a large crescent shaped apparatus (and small surf boards)to glide over the waves. Some of them are quite adept and do flips and even rise fifty or sixty feet above the water. It's very entertaining.
