Never heard of them. Good capture.

Googled(a great invention by the way) to find that they are also called a Collared Peccary and that they can be smelt before they are seen. They also have very sharp tusks. I also had never heard of them before

I've heard them also called wild pigs and they sure can do a number on your garden!

I had never heard of them either. Nice picture of the critters. I wouldn't want them in my backyard!!!

They're good eating even tho they don't look great. My husband shot one in Tucson and we have it's head hanging in our house! UUUUgly, but that's what you put up when you have a hunter in the house!

I had never heard of them. I imagin they could be pretty nasty. I don't think I'll have the problem in my back yard up here in the far north.

Yes, collared peccary is the correct term. They do resemble wild pigs, but they are not related to pigs at all. They are very stinky and they have poor eyesight. There is a children's book called 'The Tres Javelinas' and there is a children's book that is popular here that is called, 'Don't Call More...

I guess this proves how awesome God is. First that beautiful sunrise, then these creatures. He has a sense of humor for sure. Then again, he created me, too.

I remember learning about them from Marlin Perkins, way back when!
 |  |
Certainly not what you would call cute!! And like you ntd, I would not like them in my back garden!
 |  |
Poor Vera -- ugh! And how did you go about cooking it?

Teenagers are people who have a burning desire to be different,
by all dressing alike!

I have yet to go to an Australian home with a dead animal's head mounted on the wall; although I have seen plenty of dogs chewing on them, on the ground!
 |  |
had never heard of them, so many things mother Nature has for us. Thanks.
 |  |
Liz, those are two ghastly choices. But you do have a Big Mouth Billy Bass, right?
 |  |
Never heard of them either, think if these things was in my back yard I'd be afraid to walk my dog. Are they scare of people? Good picture and fun to work.

I've heard of them but never seen one. They are ugly, for sure. I think they look like a cross between a pig and a rat.
