Judy!!! You were paying attention yesterday!!!
I think that's Patterson's Curse as well. The stuff is well named.

You two are right, of course. I paid attention yesterday too, Heidi -- and then the caption today threw me off (and it doesn't take much, LOL). That's another foot in my mouth!

Kate, is your avatar a painted table top, and did you paint it? I like it!

Kay... Kate said recently that her avatar is a Japanese manhole cover.

I take it the purple stuff is a plant which can be a nuisance, right? So why is it allowed to grow all over like this? Does it have any value beyond beauty? Guess it's pretty obvious my part of Iowa is very structured as far as plants go. When my siter-in-law brought her family here from Washington More...

Except that yesterday it was correctly spelt: Paterson's Curse

Sorry Kate/ Lane Cove.... you're right about the spelling, but you knew what we meant.

Gramma Linda... read yesterday's comments- we discussed Paterson's Curse in some detail.

A thousand apologies, Kate. I will call spell it Paterson's from now on. BTW, this is some of what Wikipedia had to say: Echium plantagineum has become an invasive species in Australia, where it is also known as Patterson's Curse, Paterson's Curse or Salvation Jane (particularly in South More...

Salvation Jane with the ubiquitous stobie pole!
It is definitely a weed, it grows wherever it wants to grow! Even in our yards at times.

I just thought -- we have some sort of weed that has purple flowers that covers ground at a fast rate here. Some think it's beautiful, others see it for the parasite that it is. Actually, I see it both ways -- beautiful and parasite. I've forgotten what it's called, but chances are it's the same weed. I'll do some research!

Here's a link to the purple weed that I wrote of. It's labeled as a "noxious weed class A." Take a peek and tell me if it looks anything like your Paterson's Curse:

Paterson's Curse (Echium plantagineum)is more like a convolvulus Kay, a flatter low-growing plant. The one in your link looks like it grows sort of like snapdragons.

I haven't checked the link (new to "pooters" and don't know how to cut and paste), but I think Kay is talking about Henbit.
It's everywhere in Spring.

Now that you've got that all straightened out, it sure makes a beautiful photo. Thanks, Kate.
