Yesterday I saw a feral cat in my neighbourhood zoom straight up all the way to the top of a high wooden fence.

The possums around here can be very large....and very mean! Very much like giant rats. They hiss and stand their ground!

Yep Vici, he was a fair sized possum, bigger than your average terrier. He was not at all timid, which is understandable because his claws and teeth are capable of inflicting nasty injuries. I was happy to watch him go about his business - they look cuddly, but giving them a friendly pat is not a good idea.

Sometimes my son comes home late at night from the train, but he always walks in the middle of the street, so as not to startle the possums coming up out of the storm drains!

I wonder if he knows the one eating all the fruit of my trees, and hissing at me if I walk near that side of the house at night!

Probably a close relative of the ones playing football on our roof - with their hobnailed boots on! When they are not playing noisy games they are eating our fruit.

What a wildly different animal from the possums here in the eastern US. Good puzzle

I thought they were Opussums in the US not related to our possums? I guess I could google to find out the answer to that.

Just had a quick look. Both are marsupials. American opussums are often called possums. The Aussie possums are different in appearance.
