Very appropriate for the USA 4th of July independence celebration! Brings out that the people who actually fought (or fought/fight anywhere) had a dirty, demanding job. I don't see any protective gear on this man, either!

It's great to see so much passion put into these re-enactments so that the stories live on for the next generations.

And what of the man who gets blown up by this gun? How sad that we kill each other.

Thank you, Kay! My great-great grandfather fought on the Union side at Fort Fisher.

Heidi, this is a photo -- not a painting (though hopefully it will be some day!). The actual photo showed much more, of course, but lost the rest due to cropping to square. The soldiers who built the bunkers at Fort. fisher (great mounds of earth, stretching for miles back then) suffered many casualties due to lack of provisions and exhausting work.
