I've never seen a flower like this before; what is the common name for it? Thanks Kate, but now you have me wishing it was spring and winter has only just begun for me.

Nice photo but pleased it is not growing in my garden as Grevilleas can make me itch.

The color and structure of this flower are just exquisite, Kate! What a wonderful photo!

Though it may be cold and drear outside,
Cold temperatures down off the charts,
With flowers abloom on computer screens,
There’ll always be spring in our hearts.

What an exotic flower- i've never seen this one, and such a pretty color. Easy for a hard, too. Thanks, Kate

TerrierCyn, can I make your poem relevant to us downunder?

There's a dusty gusting wind outside
a northerly, hot on the tops of charts,

I think the common name is grevillea but there might be a common name for this particular one

Pink grevilleas are more unusual - red and yellow are more common! This one is very pretty! Thanks Kate!

Enjoyed the comments and poetry. As I put this together, I knew if must be a flower, but I kept thinking if I ever need inspiration for a creepy movie, this flower is it. Can't you just imagine it rising through the gray-green mist hovering above the surface of a pond on the overgrown grounds of a decrepit mansion where a young couple have taken shelter for some reason or other.

I am on a friends computer and the screen is too small for me to do this one in any detail but I will come back to it next week when I am at home.
Thanks for the name Kate as I am planting all natives in my garden and have seen the mini grevillea but didn't know what name to ask for at the nurseries.
