Adorable little Lorikeet. Is that fruit in the bowl?

A nicely-posed lorikeet. Good photo, fun puzzle - but rather easy for a "hard"

Brilliant, in every way -- photography, subject, colors, and a fun puzzle (though not too difficult!). You've done it again, Ian. Thanks.

Winter is a great time to see natives, they tend to come closer to homes for feeding, was this one in your yard Ian? I have been lucky enough to see a pair of King Parrots in my yard last week.

A note of interest -- we used to have native Carolina Parakeets, but they've been extinct since about 1938. They were plentiful all over the mid-Atlantic and southern states in the U.S. until the Europeans came. Then they were hunted for plumage, trapped for sale as pets, and shot as pests. Here's a great photo of a preserved one:

Wonderful, thanks Ian. Must be a female - there's no blue in the corner near the eye & the two orange patches! Love the Carolina Parakeet photo, too. Thanks Kay. It is very sad when native species die out.

Thanks, Kay. I had no idea we ever had parakeets this far north. What a pity.

We had Sun Conures native to NA and seen as far north as NJ that met the same fate as the parakeets. I had one named Petrie whom I had to give away because he kept attacking my African Gray who is twice his size. They are very fiesty little birds and very loud but loveable and cuddly when they get your personal attention.
