Talk about anything and everything, but place your comments in the right categories so that people on slow internet connections can still enjoy the site. Also, be nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

My son Will took this photo the summer of 2007. He timed it just right and caught the snake's tongue out, tasting the air.

I had a boa constrictor as a low-maintenance pet while I was in graduate school. I got him as a little snakeling from my office-mate who had a pair of boas. He was quite interesting as a pet, but far from my Westies, who take a lot more time but are a lot of fun and love!

Nice to put a face with your name, Jim!

I was quite happy, I like reptiles. A lady asked me, "Aren't you afraid it will bite you?" and I said, "No, because it isn't venomous."
Immediately, the StL Zookeeper quipped, "He says that now, but if it bites him he will scream bloody murder."
I kept smiling, though my heart skipped a beat!

Actually, my little boa bit me! I was holding him (I called it a him, though it is very difficult to sex a snake!) on my arm, and slowly releasing my grip, trying to encourage him to wrap around my arm for support, when I felt a little prick. I looked, and there were two little red spots on my arm More...
