kr, I'll bet when you took this picture it never occurred to you that it would eventually be of historic interest.

The attack on the twin towers is a moment where almost everyone remembers where they were at the precise time. It's akin to "Where were you when JFK was assassinated?" I was at work and we were getting the reports via radio, and it was next to impossible to believe. I remember walking More...

You know, the fate of the people trapped in these two buildings was awful beyond our comprehension, but that does not take away from the fact that the buildings themselves were ugly and a blot on the New York skyline.

Like you, Joe, I find it hard to look at!

I have to agree with you also, Joe. The only blot about this is the inhumanity enacted here and the retaliation that resulted in many more innocent lives being obliterated.

We left home on 7/11 for a tour of East Coast Canada/USA. I thought WW3 was breaking out (We were with Friends in New Brunswick, Canada) and I thought we would never get home again. Our tour finished in a very sombre NY a few weeks later.

This is the first real - not a 'before' picture in a newspaper or broadcast - that I have seen of the towers. I'm not sure I was even aware of their existence before 9/11. They look pink here, and too modern for my tastes. I didn't realize one was taller than the other. I wonder what they replaced...

I take a deep breath every time I see them in movies these days. It happened in the middle of our night and I had fallen asleep on the couch next to hubby. He was watching TV when it became breaking news. For some reason I wouldn't wake up, must have been exhausted. Awoke the next morning to the horrible news. We took a TV to work and we couldn't take our eyes off it. Still gives me a chill.

I was on the Jersey Turnpike and pulled over and watched the mountains of black smoke pouring out. If we were such a good country before 9/11 maybe we should ask ourselves why they hated us so much and do something about it.

Unlike some members of the site I don't mind this image being on the screen.

I'm glad you said that Dot--it's not an easy thing for someone from elsewhere to say--but we (as in Australians) have colluded in the same violent response as the USA--sending in troops to Iraq, killing many more More...
