New Orleans cemetaries are so cool because everyone is buried above ground (seeing that New Orleans is below sea level)...I hope these survived also. Wonderful picture Kay - thanks

The cemetaries are cool, but also high crime areas. It's best to go with a tour group.

These look very old. If there was any writing on them, I can't see it now. It would be a pity if they didn't survive Katrina.

Kate, there are some that are almost high-rise, you might say, stacked 4-5 high (those are the public ones, rented out as needed). They do not embalm in New Orleans. The bodies are placed in the mausoleums, where the heat makes them disappear in about a year or so, and generally the mausoleums More...
