Good evening.... and 'Welcome'....

Maen, I have the 'welcome swallow' and the outside border finished I think I will come back to it later. In our area, the Robin is the welcome bird. Swallows are such a diry bird if they build their nest on your porch or front door. Their nests are clean, but not the area below it!! It takes a lot of effort , but I destroy the nest as they are building it.

Three pictures and no cats? What is happening? Quite hard with all the sky.

One could quickly learn to dislike the color blue with this puzzle, but bird is beautiful.
I would not destroy a bird nest. We stopped using our front door one year because a phoebe was using the ledge just over it to raise her chicks. Got to watch them on their first flight.

I agree with you ii I would never destray a bird's nest we have had a swallow's nest on the front corner of our verandah for years - mess can be cleaned up. Birds need to be able to breed or they will cease to be and the world will be poorer.

whoops... destroy

OMG!!that was torturous...but done..its 11 pm and now i can sleep in peace..but then think all these pieces will do a merrygoround inside my head..such kinda uniform color background must be avoided i reckon,or may be thats the fun behind..
whatever it is may not venture in future..
G'nite
cheers

Carrie, I agree that swallows make a mess beneath their nests but they are protected birds in Australia and it is illegal to destroy nests that have either eggs of chicks in them. The solution is to discourage them from building their nests where they will make a mess. We had swallows trying to More...

We had doves on our patio ceiling fan...no mess, just interesting...of course, they limited our use of the patio.

A wonderful selection of photos today and miraculously cat-free!

I'm sure the swallow is glad that this was a 'cat free' zone.

I have bird feeders set up just outside of my office windows-a great distraction & delight throughout the work day.

G'day all. Or should say good evening.

What a lovely bird. We have been feeding the birds all winter, throwing seed onto the back deck, then sitting back and watching them through the glass doors. But today, we found a mouse had joined the birds; we may have to stop feeding them this way.

Debbie, somehow I feel a bit sorry for the mouse.

My grandparents always had barn swallows that nested around/in the light on the front porch. We couldn't use the light for half the year, but we loved having them there. And all the grandkids made a game out of who could get the chicks to open their beaks (ready for feeding). We (the grandkids) More...
