Duh....guess it's not a miner's head lamp?

Nice puzzle-lots of stuff and lines. I know about as much about mines as I do about large bodies of water, so can't comment about the light.

Thanks Kate, it was a fun puzzle. Is it a large replica of a hand-held kerosene lamp pre- helmet lamps? That's what it looks like to me!

Interesting puzzle. Looks like a toll booth to me.

Shar your right. Lithgow is just over the Blue Mountains from Sydney and it largely a mining town. They have done a lot of work over the last 15 years or so to "clean" it up and there are a lot of intersting places to visit there. (my brother-in-law lives there)

Good one other Kate - an interesting perspective - cutting out the whacking great building it's attached to! I passed by this way as recently as Tuesday on the Great Western Highway there in the picture!

I'm glad you told us, Kate, because it looks like a toll booth.
Oh, as Joe Long already said.

It looks to me more like a Davy lamp - carried by miners to detect lethal but odourless methane, rather than give light. Before Sir Humphrey Davy invented these lamps, miners used to take canaries down as they succumbed to methane sooner that we humans and so warned the miners.
