We too have them... they're kinda stupid. They go to cross the road - can't make up their minds - then most go - the rest stay - you drive closer - the rest decide to cross - all but four - they stay - you creep through - maybe they will and maybe they won't... dumb... they're not even pretty - (but tast good)...

FYI: There's an Iowa branch of this ding-a-ling turkey clan! Can you believe? Ben Franklin wanted the wild turkey to be the USA bird? Might have given the word 'turkey' a lot better connotation! He thought the eagle was too warlike! Maybe Ben had second sight...

Elizabeth -- on turkey farms they're all bred to have enormous breasts, and sometimes force-fed. The poor creatures often have such large breasts that they can barely walk. That's the case on some farms at least -- we have a lot of them in our area. They do not at all resemble wild turkeys any longer. Consumers do like that white turkey meat! I can't speak for all of the turkey farms, though.

Kay... I've worked with wild turkeys and domestic turkeys, and they're almost 2 different animals. The wild turkey is one of the smartest birds I know (ask any turkey hunter), but they bred the brains out of the domestic ones. I have never heard of turkeys being force fed like geese, but More...

I forgot to comment after I did that puzzle this morning, sorry! I was talking on the phone at the same time!! Fun puzzle, great photo thanks! Heidi thanks for all the turkey info. We have some wild turkeys native to Australia too! Ones a brush turkey & the other's a scrub turkey
