The Great Plains is not the most interesting country to traverse when headed out to the Rocky Mountains ... it's miles and miles of miles and miles! But it feeds us! The mountains and seashore may be good for our souls, but the breadbasket of the nation sustains us!

You just have to learn to see the beauty of the Plains. I'm a New Mexican but have lived in the Plains for years. I still feel like I'm home when I go to NM and see the mountains (which I love and still miss) but I think the rolling green pastures and acres of corn or beans is beautiful, too.

I might add that the weather in NM is much more tolerable than that here in KS. I'm really getting tired of the humid 100+ temps that we are having.
