So unusual, I was thinking it had some characteristics of an orchid family, but Kath's comment makes sense as it looks like a lobster claw

It's probably Heliconia bihai (as Cheryl said) or (lobster) claw 2 or 3 from the family Heliconiaceae. There are about 200 different types of Heliconia & they're related to bananas! If you go to: http://www.utopiapalmsandcycads.com/heliconia.htm

Looks to me like a great selection for a 'hard' puzzle - both subtle and distinct lines, definite color contrasts and blends. Faascinating!

After viewing numerous sites, I think that this is a "Heliconia rostrata" plant. I also think that the photo is displayed upside down since it's a pendant Heliconia. It is PHENOMENAL!!! (Can you tell that I'm excited?) I also believe that they will grow in my locality probably More...
