Harder than it first looks.... can't believe I am first with all three tonight.

Oh, St. Petersburg again, I believe Ian.
Will do this one tomorrow.
 |  |
That was an interesting picture, wonder where from
 |  |
I think I will save this one for this afternoon. I have some errands to run before it snows much. Don't think we will have anything near what New York is getting, but just don't want to be out in the bitter cold.

great photo - yes Wendy it is harder than it looks
 |  |
A bit hard - interesting too.

Are they fountains in the gardens of the Palace of Versailles? Could be!
 |  |
Who snuck into my back yard when I wasn't looking? Oh, wait, my yard is the one filled with shrubs and weeds. The only water is the dog dish filled by the hose...
 |  |
You are correct Anne. One of Ian's (Sydney) pictures from his Flickr page (everyone should go see his pictures). He describes it as part of the Cascade Fountain at Peterhof, near St Petersburg.
 |  |
Stunning. I'm glad someone identifies St. Petersburg; I'd never have guessed. Does anyone know the size of the figures? They look to be larger than life sized.
 |  |
Thanks Greg, as usual you and Anne share the meat tray tonight. Or was it a chook raffle today - I forget.
 |  |
Boy, I found that fairly hard - and I knew the picture!
I have never seen so many golden stature in my life as in and around this fountain, The canal going up to the top left of the photo leads to the Gulf of Finland. In the centre of the main pool is a really dramatic statue of Sampson and More...

larryville, they are.

For anyone who is interested in further information on Peterhof, the following site has a lot of information, including panoramas of the various fountains and gardens -

At first I thought it was Versailles, too, Richard but I couldn't remember any of the statues there being such bright gold.
 |  |
How do you get to Ian's pictures on Flickr?

Kathy, try pasting the following -

I found that one very difficult.

Good morning everyone
Hope you are all enjoying your weekend.

A good puzzle, Ian.
 |  |
That is a very fancy fountain. I enjoy seeing all of Ian's photos.
 |  |
I put Cascade Fountain at Peterhof, near St Petersburg into Google and they had more pictures of this area.
 |  |
Thanks, Ian. There are some beautiful pictures there which I will enjoy looking at.
 |  |
Kathy, I'm happy to share them.
 |  |
Absolutely fabulous, Ian. Thanks. 12th Feb'07
 |  |
Do you think they'd send a canal our way so we can share their water!! 12th Feb'07

Amazing, looks so different to anything I would see here. Originally, I thought it was going to be a sports stadium and the spray was the effect of large lights. 4 Dec 07
