Talk about anything and everything, but place your comments in the right categories so that people on slow internet connections can still enjoy the site. Also, be nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

Does anyone know why the wires from the poles get longer as time goes by. Mine are getting so low that I just park my oversize van in the driveway. ( It's wheelchair size)

I don't think the wires are getting longer.... I think the poles are bending. That's what happens here, at least.

Maybe the wires stretch over time with the weight of wind, ice, and birds(?). I'm glad to see a picture of the wires, their post and insulators-unsung heroes of modern living. I'm sure everyone has experienced how life comes to a crashing halt when the power goes out.

...Makes me think of my childhood days, when I spent summers at my grandparent's river cabin. It was quite crude then, no electricity available there. I have very fond memories of Granny reading to me by kerosene lantern light, and hauling huge blocks of ice for the ice-box on the porch, and mile-high biscuits cooked in her kerosene stove. Those were simpler times....
