What a lovely sight! The "post" appears to be shaggy, and the image in the glass (?) seems to be a lovely woman in repose. I'd love to know the story behind this!

Hi, Cyn! I would like to know more about the Guardian figures, too! And who the artists are - and who is the astute photographer that saw this lovely photo.

What an interesting picture! What do these guardians guard? Must not be too bad a thing as it is such a lovely post and sign(?). I thought at first it was a Japanese fan on something, then a traditional Japanese lady with fancy headgear, but noticed no neck!!! I'm glad there was a bit of a comment to help me out.

I think the photo was taken by Kate/Sydney and the sculpture is one of a series of sculptures in the annual Sydney "Sculptures by the Sea" exhibition (2007?)

Beautiful, hopefully Kate or whoever will come on line and let us know

Ian - you're absolutely right. After some internet searching, I found it - it's a piece by Mike Macgregor. Absolutely beautiful. Until I started doing these jigsaws I had no idea about Bondi's annual Sculptures by the Sea and I'm learning so much. You lucky Australians who get to see it for real!

Thank you, Ian and Diane, for filling in the missing info. This is such a lovely sight -- the water just sparkles and the delicate glass against it is so pretty.

Ian - is this where those marvelous sand sculptures were a few years ago (or was it even last year? I can't remember just when I started doing these puzzles)?

Thanks, Diane and Ian. I found a link which shows the Guardian very clearly. It appears the "fan" is glass as the onlookers are reflected in it. http://www.philosophyblog.com.au/images/sculpture-by-the-sea-2007-guardian-figure-by-mike-1.JPG
Wel l done, Diane! I've spent an hour or More...

Thanks for the link, Judy. I went through 11 years of sculpture, and it was amazing. I would love to see an exhibit like this at our beach!

Yes, I am. Isn't it wonderful to have the Internet handy to see and learn about all of these things?

I am sure I have learnt more in my year or so on this site, than I ever did at school!
Much more interesting way to learn too.

This is such an interesting representation of a grass tree - it has captured the shaggy fronds and the erect spikes in such an interesting way!
