Early today, thanks Kate for the interesting photo - a home experience most of us would like ot avoid.

I've never heard of a paper wasp before, so thanks Kate.

Do paper wasps eat tomato worms. We have a wasp nest (not like that) and those wasps eat(?) my tomato worms. They are friendly. I can brush them off tomatos and they don't sting.

Sunday, Dec 2, 2007 8:30 AM First snowfall of the year today here. Midwest has been hit by blizzards. Anyone out there from that area care to comment?

A rather unusual picture for sure. I wasn't sure what it was. Thanks for sharing.

DotCom, it is 10:27 CDT and the temperature in OKC is 43. We are expecting high 60's all week and lows well above freezing. We do have rain which I wish we could send to our poor friends in Georgia and the Carolinas. Have a great day, everybody, everywhere!
 |  |
DotCom,
We have high winds, 37 degrees and rain off and on at 11:33. The snow from yesterday will likely change to ice if this keeps up. How is NYC?

I'm going to Iowa City in a few hours, hopefully the travel is ok.

Great Photo Kate. Each year we get their nests around the outside of the house, and they are pretty unsociable as far as humans are concerned. Getting rid of them is a hazardous operation.

faily new here.I have found 2 puzzles for the day..where is the 3rd? the 16 piece and if I click onto hard I get different pics
 |  |
Hi Judy and Stagelady. We only got one inch of snow and now the sun is out. Temp about 25F. The days are so short this time of year it's hardly worth getting out of bed for :-D
 |  |
DotCom, lucky you! It hasn't reached Maine yet, but we're expecting a foot! I am not at all looking forward to shoveling.

We had snow and rain which froze on Saturday. I was unable to get both my garage doors open. One door I got open by hammering on the bottom, but the other one where my car was parked no dice. I was picked up for church and when I came home it was thawed, how I don't know as it was 12*, sun is shining now. still 13*

Mona From Texas, I had no problem with the hard. Try again. Maybe it was a short term problem.

carrie From ia, Maybe it was some sort of indication that you should not drive yourself to church!

The nests were on the ceiling of a stable near Dubbo, NSW. The wasps are called paper wasps because when you see the nest in real life it looks like it's made from paper. We have them around here & also mud wasps (nests of mud!).
 |  |
We have wasps who insist on buildin their nests right at my front door.......I get a broom, sweep at the nest, and then run into the house.
I almost hate to say this, but, it was 82 and partly cloudy...lovely day.

Dogs come when called,
cats have voice mail.
 |  |
I am highly allergic to their bites!!
 |  |
Don't worry Rosemary if we see them in the naughty corner, I'll sweep them away for you!
 |  |
wot is she talking about?? sweeping dogs and cats from the naughty corner?? am i missing something??
 |  |
Oh Pleeze DO NOT encourage all that naughty corner
crap.
 |  |
Another good one, Gerald.

Rosemary My husband was stung on the neck by a wasp as he was driving through Wangaratta a few years ago and was quite ill for several days. He is also allergic to them. Cheers everyone

I remember several infamous encounters with these rascals when I was a child. They are definitely NOT sociable. One flew up and stung me inside my right ear when I was 3 yrs. old, and that's one of the first clear memories I have of life. Great photo here -- at first I thought it was pizza.
