All right, Seaman Fritz. What's this about bombing the tourists?

I'm first today!!! I thought the colors of this puzzle were so ugly, until I finished it, now I think the scene is beautiful.

One would have to assume these fellows were standing at attention for Queen Anne. (wink)

Notice that the gull on the right is looking down the walk. That one is the lookout for potential dry breaders!

This is so interesting! Not just the gulls, as we have our fair share of those here. Those pointy topped trees in the background -- I've never seen anything like those. I guess they're some type of conifers -- what, exactly, are they? Great photo, Anne.

Hello everyone - thank you for your lovely comments.
Kay - the pointy trees are probably pine (conifers) as there is/was a pine plantation over behind this area. A lot have probably been bulldozed by now for their timber and to make room for more housing in this area. It's just over the back from my place in a new subdivision area.

Thanks for the info, Anne. We have a lot of types of pine trees here, but any that are as tall as the ones in your photo do not have that conical shape -- the branches are much more spread out and random in shape. The combination of the tall, bare trunks and then the very cone shaped tops are very interesting to me.

The birds gave me a good chuckle and I love all the captions and ideas you all have added. Great photo, Anne -- very well composed!

Kay - the bottom branches had already been sawn off, that's why the trunks are bare. They are obviously not native to Australia and actually do the soil quite a bit of damage. These days our south/west has been taken over with Blue Gum plantations and turned into wood chips and exported to Japan out of our port.

10 years ago we lived in a quiet spot on the river with only one neighbor in view. Today they are cutting down 100s of trees adjacent to our property and plan to build a high density development. It seems like the developers are planning to leave no tree standing for miles along the riverbank. Very sad.
