Looks like Mammillaria gracilis var. fragilis (Thimble Cactus), so called because the stems break off easily. No problem, though, since you just let them callous over and then plant them. A cute little cactus! (and fairly easy to grow)

I agree, TerrierCyn. Lovely flowers too, very much like my Cereus Peruviana (sp?), also know as organ cactus. Except Peruviana is a night bloomer, attracting moths and bats. Flowers are worth staying up late at night to see!

Anything that attracts a bat is my friend (maybe vampire bats could be an exception) Out of curiosity, what makes night plants flower? My guess is solar absorption during the day that doesn't come to fruition until night. I remain perpetually ignorant

Love this. So interesting with the littlle cacti, and the flowers blooming amongst them. Wonder if they could be planted here? Bringing them indoors in Winter, of course.
