Yes, I met an ostrich once in South Africa. Was a pest at camp.

Interesting creatures. I missed my puzzles this last week. Glad I am back to them. Need to get my fix daily.

I find pictures of nature very refreshing. Thanks for sharing!!

I think they can be a little nasty, too. I wouldn't want them around my camp either!
 |  |
Is it ready to attack or trying to be friendly? I would run..... Nice picture.

This one was nasty and a pest, getting into things; at a point, it was not-so-affectionally known as 'Boots' by the Texans. Happily, I left and did not know the final outcome.

Fisrt Aussie? Morning all. 7.30AM, day off today - Australia Day stat holiday. Nice puzzle to start with. These birds make me feel uneasy. Would never be in the same place as them without a fence between.

Good Morning All beautiful sunny morning here but will probably get hot later

They are too big.

ntd---it would out run you! I understand the kick can be deadly.

I didn't know you had to be afraid of ostriches...I just think they are a funny looking bird.
 |  |
You don't have to be afraid of them, Pat. Just don't go messin' with them. What about the emu, Aussies? Don't go asking them to dance?
 |  |
Emus can be a pest. I remember one snatching a pie from my daughter's hand when she was about three. Poor kid went into a state of shock with an open mouth and empty hand. Have to be careful at sunset when they are out and running near the road.
 |  |
Yikes, Dino, your poor little girl! 'An open mouth and an empty hand...' a funny image, I must admit.

ever tried to cook one?
 |  |
Its amazing something so ugly is so beautiful in their own way. Are you serious John, isn't it against the law to cook them? Their feathers are just lovely to make clothing and hats with. Good picture. January 28, 08

I hope the camera lens was in the opening of a good, strong chain link fence, LOL. Some folks keep them as a night guard at junkyards -- nobody in their right mind would challenge one.
