Didn't know your miners were so handsome!

Much nicer than the imported pest miner around here, ugly things they are.
Is this the native one?

What a lovely bird! That red, red soil is a wonderful contrast, and makes me feel twice as warm during the first truly warm days of Alberta's "summer".

Gail, these are very different to the Indian Myna's that are becoming a nuisance along the eastern side of Oz. I like the look of these ones

They do have a little of the look of the native noisy mynahs along the east coast - but not those awful brown indian mynahs.

A sweet-looking little bird. I can't think of any here that have green on them.

To all the people who like the look of this bird, yes it is lovely: but lovlier by far is the much longed for red dirt!

I took this photo last year when we travelled up through "The Red Centre" in our caravan. I have no idea if they are really miners or mynah's or whatever. I was told by somebody that is what they were called. They are extroardinarily beautiful and unafraid.

Looks like a Yellow-throated Miner, Manorina flavigula, to me. They're very similar to the Noisy Miners - Manorina melanocephala - but have more colour. They both range along the east coast through to South Australia. The Common Myna, Acridotheres tristis, is a different story altogether - it's an introduced bird & quite a pest!!
