The fur coat would bother me less if the fur was on the inside where it would actually provide adequate warmth. The Inuit figured that one out long before the European invasion.

Lets leave the fur to the animals.It's their's to begin with and we have no right to take it from them.

Ian, you could add leather to that conversation as well, except those things are bred for that reason, not trapped to make coats.

Joann, I think that trapping is an appalling practice. It is cruel and inhumane and I do not condone it. But we humans kill all kinds of animals for our own purposes all the time, and that is the point I was trying to make. Also, I dislike killing for sport.

While fur was fashionable - way back then, most fur was ranched, not trapped. Besides it is an interesting photo. I wonder where.

You can't tell from the photo if it's real or fake - friend has a fake fur coat similar to that one which she bought in America a year or so ago. It looks & feels real!! She wears it when she's getting to her car in her boat before 7am on week days. It may not be snowing on the river but it sure gets very cold!!
