Nice statue, nice lines in background construction, but love the street(?) light to the statue's left! Such class for a utilitarian item. Why don't we do this anymore?

OK, Aussies, I'll bite..... Who was Sir Redmund Barry?
Magnificent statue. I agree with Gramma Linda. I wish "artists" still made statues to heroes like this one. But, as I think about it, we don't have any bigger-than-life heroes anymore, what with the Press determined to gig up scandal and pull them down.

Sir Redmund was Acting Chief Justice of Victoria When our notorious bushranger Ned Kelly came to trial. It was a case of one Irish man sentencing another! The scaffolding at the left was there because the State Library was being renovated! My father's grandmother was a Barry. He was her Grandfather or maybe Great Grandfather!
