Good Maen, everybody. Beautiful blooms, Kate -- are these out now, in Oz? I'm jealous!

Hiya Judy! Love the ants, Kate! Am curious, too, if these are blooming now.

Do these lovely flowers have a common name? Thryptomene saxicola does not exactly flow easily from the tongue.

Did you search for one, Heidi? I did, to no avail except I did find a common name of "rock thryptomene."

Had to search for the ants, well done Kate. I'm not sure what these are commonly known as, but as it is spring here, everything is flowering, great colours everywhere

Try asgap.org
I did a search and wikipedia had this semi helpful info: Thryptomene is a genus of small shrubs in the family Myrtaceae which are native to Australia. but the Association of Societies for Growing Australian Plants really knew their stuff.
We are in the end of summer, fall More...

Great photo, Kate. The ants are an added treat! I found lots of info. about this plant, including the common name which is 'Payne's Hybrid.' They are a member of the Myrtle family as mentioned, will tolerate mild frost. Another botany lesson for me!

Just lovely Kate - it looks a little like our Geraldton wax here in the West - yup sure enough one of the many myrtle species in Australia. Just looked it up.

Colleen, I thought it was a Geraldton Wax as well. I have two flowering in my yard now. Thanks, sister dearest (Kate).

Thanks, Judy. I just Google "free clip art" and go from there. There are zillions. Some of them I create myself, but not many.

Thanks everyone. Yes it's a heath Myrtle & looks very similar to tea tree flowers but only half the size or even smaller! It is also a little bit like Geraldton wax without the glossiness!! I initially thought it was a mini tea tree - my husband bought it & planted but couldn't remember what is was!!
