I see three Kookaburras and they are all on look out for each other while they feed.

Fun puzzle, better caption! Hey Gath, what's with the puzzles from the Sudoku site that don't fit in the box because the pieces are too big?

The partner of the one the day before yesterday where they were lurking ... see the comments for Sunday's Easy jigsaw to follow the story!

Thnaks Gath, for them arriving so close together!

This is great --since they seem to be more rare here in South Oz it's always special to me to hear kookaburras let alone seeing them so close and so soon after the other photo--

Looks like they scattered a lot of litter around. Was your sausage wrapped in a napkin? Is 'thieving sod' the English translation of kookaburra?

Kate, how wonderful that this photo came on the heels of the other one and your tale of having been relieved of your lunch! I would like to have heard you.

Apart from the bread and the onion (which they are not so interested in being meat eaters) I see only leaf-litter. There was no napkin. And I only felt a slight hit on my index finger as my lunch was scooped out of my grip. A millimetre closer to the thumb and I wouldn't have felt a thing. They are getting very, VERY good.

... and it would not surprise me in the least if 'kookaburra' meant 'thieving sod' in the language of the local Gu-ring-gai or Cameraygal people or the Cadigal people who first encoutered the arrivals from the First Fleet - but I do not have the required knowledge to prove or disprove it.

P.S. Actually I felt I could pay such boldness ... and watching him 'kill' the sausage before he ate it dispelled any ill-humour!

Kate, I remember fishing in the Victorian rivers and every time I snagged or became tangled in a tree there was a kookaburra sitting in a tree laughing his head off. I had other names for them.

Great shot Kate. I will have to go back and look at Sunday's. I was away on the weekend so I missed it.
