Beautiful color on that Azalea. The only one I have is a deep golden yellow. I would like to add more, of many colors, but this one seems to be the only one which will survive my tender "care".

A lovely flower, Kate! Sis Emma, that goes for me as well - I checked out my azaleas yesterday, and see that they have become nicely bushy as a result of deer-pruning. Sigh. I fuss at them when I catch them in their favorite "salad bar", but they just stand knee-deep in my garden More...

Joan, how lucky you are to have native animals make close contact, they instinctively know who not to be afraid of, even if it means sacrificing your garden

Thanks everyone! Up-the-River we have a vegetable garden that is totally fenced & wired (roof included) because of all the wonderful native animals & birds - wallabies, possums, brush turkeys, lyrebirds, bandicoots....we didn't get any before it was totally wired up!! At home in Sydney I More...

Add my compliments to your azalea blossum and photo, Kate. It's lovely on both counts. We have plenty of deer (and other wildlife) here, but for some reason we haven't had a problem with them eating our plants. We do have a More...

Joann - I guess that's true - consider the time I was sitting on the deck, reading, and felt a bird hop on the back of my chair. I was bemused - and even more so when the bird jumped on my head! I thought how sharp the little claws were - then the bird flew away. The fourth time this happened, I More...

Kate - I didn't read all your comment before waxing eloquent on my deer, but I agree with you completely! I have squirrels, turkeys, hawks, various birds (I feed them in the winter and they have trained me to come out and fill the feeders when they peer in the sliding door at me when I'm using the More...

Beautiful colors in the flower, great wildlife stories. Thanks to you all!

We have built upon and paved so much of their habitat, little wonder that they forage in ours. It's comforting to hear how much you all love and help the rascals! Except for giving up a nice head of hair -- good story, Joan.
And a lovely puzzle, thanks, Kate!
