Sturt's Desert Pea is my favourite flower. Growing it from seed is a major challenge, particularly in the (alpine) climate of Canberra. We had a shag carpet in store that was heavily impregnated with dormant SDP seeds that had escaped from the tweezers during the process of nicking them with a sharp knife.

These are wonderful to see in the outback, they will grow in disturbed soil, after rain. The road from Broken Hill to Mildura was carpeted with Sturt's Desert Pea and Salvation Jane ( a briliant purple blue weed) Thank you for the photo.
