Also, be nice to each other - you don't have to agree, but this is not the place for personal attacks. As Sir Paul McCartney said: 'I used to think anyone doing anything weird was weird. Now I know that it is the people that call others weird that are weird' (longer explanation). Enjoy!

good morning - We had (my daughters had) black hen that layed bluel eggs ( well sortof green) in the city limits. My neighbors took three months to figure out where the rouster (red bantam) was.

dorthea, I would have thought the rooster would have found them before three months! Been chased by a few roosters, geese too. They can be fun to get away from. I was about 5 when a goose chased me with its wings flapping. Thought it was going to kill me! Ha ha Can you imagine how big a goose More...

Big Red - I've been chased by geese, but the rooster was a pet., even to he had really long spurs.

You're not allowed legally to have chickens within city or town limits unless you have a variance, which they hand out freely if you apply. If I were awakened early in the morning by a neighbor's rooster I would be enjoying him for supper that evening.

I recall my mum and other local women in the CWA (Country Women's Association) plucking chooks behind out tankstand before Christmas. Occasionally Dad would chop of a chooks head and let it run around headless for us to chase.

I have 3 chickens and am only 8 kms from the city centre. Have 3 new ones coming today. The council allows 20 but NO roosters. My grandson has been studying hatchings at school and now they have 30 chickens to give away. Fun and games ahead as to whether the oldies accept the new little ones.

When I was a little girl, I had a pet bantam named Belinda, who used to lay me a 'cackleberry' for breakfast!
