Thanks everyone! Did you know that conspicillatus means spectacles, & the bird does look like it's wearing spectacles when you can see more of it's eye!

The Australian Pelican has more striking coloring than our Brown Pelicans here. I am a big fan of all pelicans. Many people consider them ugly creatures, but I think they look very prehistoric and they intrique me. Good photo, Kate!
