June, we are going to visit Cowra next month with the local Probus Caravan 'Interest Group'. They are a happy bunch of larrikins and we are looking forward to the visit. I'm sure the camp will be on our list of 'must sees', as will the Japanese Commemorative Gardens.

We visited this place in 1985. Until then I had no idea Australia had a POW camp. Very interesting and lovely Japanese memorial gardens.

I have visited this place and the gardens a couple of time, but some years ago. It should be a good fun trip Ian. The gardens are lovely.
I think this photo may be one of Joann's.

Hi whereizzy. Yes we had POW camps for the second WW. It had Italian and Japanese prisoners. The Italian priosoners where allowed to help on farms in the district and often stayed overnight at these farms and were very happy to be here in Australia, so much so that after the war and they were sent back home to Italy they came back here to Australia as immigrants with their families.
